“Norwegian killer gets preventive detention”

Summary:

After the horrid destruction of 77 people, a 33 year old Norwegian man by the name of Anders Behring Breivik was sentenced to prison for 21 years after being convicted of terrorism. Because Breivik believed that Muslim immigrates were the cause of European failure in society, he decided to assassinate Muslims by going on a shooting rampage and placing a bomb in a car at the Norwegian’s government head office. Breivik is viewed as a “political terrorist rather than a psychotic mass murderer” because he killed eight people with the bomb, while injuring another 200. In addition, out of 69 teenagers, the youngest person that died was a 14 year old at summer camp during a shooting riot on Utoya Island. Breivik showed no remorse in the courtroom, proudly explaining in horrid detail how he attacked his helpless victims, and attempting to justify his anti-immigration opinion.

Analysis:

This article is significant to the crime topic because it describes the increasing political corruption and decreasing moral values in human society as a whole. The fact that a person can become so enraged and began plotting how to commit genocide systematically is disturbing and unbelievable to the American culture. Although Breivik is granted the opportunity to express his opinion under the Article 100 Norwegian Constitution, it does not mean that he has to remain insensitive to other immigrants.  Witness accounts told how the murderer was “smiling and roaring a joyous battle cry” as his victims simply surrendered in despair before he shot them in the head after chasing them. Even more disturbing, however, is the fact that Anders Breivik was “more concerned about blood loss from his cut finger and posed like a body builder as a police took his picture” perfectly displays how he shows no remorse for the precious lives he stole.

In conclusion, the horrid deeds committed by the Norwegian traitor serves as a prime example that forces every country on the globe to realize and accept the fact that previous law-abiding citizens can commit terror attacks against their own country.

  1. You don't have to separate the summary and analysis into two parts if you don't want to. That's completely up to you. Otherwise, good work.
