Blog 4 Health Problems in Africa

I Africa there are so many outbreaks of disease happening that we are unaware about here in America.  The World Health Organization says that no matter how much funding there is from to government for health care there are still mothers and children dying every day.  Africa only makes up 11% of the world’s population, yet it also has 60% of world’s cases of HIV/AIDS, and 90% of the world’s cases of malaria.  Louis Sambo who is the director of The World Health Organization for Africa is aware of the health problems, but is trying to move around the barriers since the health problems are so fragile right now.  The Africa governments are trying to provide enough funds for Africa so they are able to become more socially and economically stable.  With a more stable economy Louis believes that there will be less health issues.  As well they are trying to fix the problem with drinking water, because currently only 58% of Africa have access to safe and clean drinking water.  Africa has now adopted artemisinin-based combination therapy in order to help with patients suffering from malaria.  In Africa 33 of the 42 countries suffer from this disease.  Artemisinin-based combination therapy seems to be working to help diminish malaria within the continent.
I believe that the health issues in Africa a terrible.  The conditions are so poor, mostly in the Sub Saharan Africa though.  No one should have to live this kind of life.  The government needs to do more funding in order to keep their people healthy and living.  The fact that everyday mothers and their children are dying is so heart wrenching.  Yes Africa’s government need to step up and help this situation, and to try and stop attacks on further disease, but I believe that every country should donate and help this fight against poverty and disease.  We all want everyone to live this happy life then we forget about those who are actually suffering.  Personally I want to go to Sub Saharan Africa and help build homes for these families, and bring in clean, safe water for them to drink.  If every country helps donate we can accomplish so much.  We can help Africa beat malaria, and HIV/AIDS! All we need is support from the other countries! What if we were in their position? We can have fundraisers to stop malaria, we can have a food drive so that can eat, and we can travel there and help build homes or provide clean water.  Every little thing we do to help them will have a huge impact on their life.
