40 Days and 40 Nights: Group Holds 24/7 Prayer Session on the Mall Until Election Day

A group of Christians have come together in Washington, DC to express feelings about the election and make a statement to the American people. Around 350 people have traveled from twenty-five states to be a part of this gathering. The group is called “David’s Tent DC” because of the biblical reference to King David who was the ruler of Israel; King David hired more than 4,000 musicians and singers to worship and pray 24/7 for the length of his ruling. David’s Tent DC is stationed on the grassy area on the Mall between the White House and Washington Monument. David’s Tent DC will play music and pray for the United States for the next forty days until the presidential election. This group of Christians is not only making a statement to persuade Americans on which presidential candidate to choose but to reinforce the symbol of Christianity. David’s Tent DC wants to “put a target on Jesus… because we are in a nation of crisis” states founder of David’s Tent DC, Jason Hershey.  David’s Tent is made up of dozens of churches and ministries that have come together to pray and preform, to reinstate the message of Jesus.

It is fascinating that a group of hundreds of Christians have grouped together to reenact a biblical act. This group of religious people care about the United States and how Christianity plays a role in the Country and in the election. King David, who was the ruler of Israel, has become a role model and a person to mimic. David’s Tent DC believes in spreading the word of Jesus and encouraging the American people to vote with the idea of Christianity in mind. The situation of David’s Tent DC relates to Israel in the way that the people of Israel are also praying for a strong Jesus following president.
