“I am so bloody tired of you Muslims ruining my lessons!”, this statement came from a teacher who called herself disciplining her students by insulting them.  The article “You’re Still here, stereotyping is one lesson best left untaught”,  Birgitte Sonsby becomes a lesson to all people of all nations that stereotyping is not appropriate and is harmful to the people around you.  Few people actually notice how many stereotypes go around about each and every country somewhere. For Americans the common stereotype for people from Africa is all people from Africa are poor, there are no real cities, but instead there are all villages and  merchant markets as in the days of old time. Some people in other countries believe that all Americans are ignorant and do not appreciate everything they have as far as freedom in their own country.  Listed are a few other offensive statements that have been said to people to discriminate against them:  “Let’s try to act like Christians here and just get along with each other. We’re all part of the human race.” “ He’s just poor white trash”, “It is all right for African Americans to call each other the N-word, but people of other races may not use that term”, and lastly “ all those Mexicans in town should speak English. They are in America now”. Ignorance is everywhere skipping along with its wife discrimination. It is especially harder for children of any ethnicity to have to take in the stereotypes they hear the adult people around them talk about because this steers them in the direction to believe that what adults are saying about them or other people is true and will later influence their behaviors to society. It is important for any citizen of any nation to become educated about other and watch the way they speak about others so that they do not influence those who do not know better into bad behaviors, by thinking bad things about other people. Stereotyping has caused wars,  murders, and even more, hurt to our children who grow up under these influences. So again, in order to make the world a better place we must stop stereotyping and take the time to learn the TRUTH about other nations as well as they do the same for us. It is then that we will advance as a world and know how to truly communicate with one another without insulting one another and starting wars.
