Blog #3 : Mystery Crime

On Tuesday, September 11, 2012, on the streets of Harlem New York was a mystery incident. Mr. Oral Walker, starting his daily routine of taking his child to school then off to another day of work, stopped at the sidewalk. He went outside to a tragic disaster. Mr. Walkers car was ruined by fire. Mr. walker and his family had just gotten a new car, in preparation for a new baby to be born, and the car was destroyed-with only two more weeks till the baby comes. The Most dreadful thing about this crime, Mr. Walkers' car wasn't the only car set on fire. There were about 10 cars set on fire on this day, around the darkness of the morning. Ms. Crowell, another victim of this cruel crime, felt that the person responsible for the cars being set afire should be severely punished. Other victims were also angry about the situation, yet some were able to look at other cars and say well my car isn't as bad as it could be. This crime is still to be solved. "Police and fire officials said the investigation was continuing, and no motive has been established."
There is a mystery person in Harlem New York committing a crime, the crime being Vandalism. "Vandalism is when a person maliciously defaces with graffiti or other inscribed material, damages or destroys real or personal property of another. It is a crime that depending on the value of the damages could be filed as a misdemeanor or a felony." Not many people realize that vandalism is a crime, but it is. Who ever it was that set those cars on fire, i wonder how they feel now, being that they have nt gotten caught as of now. I wonder is it or is it not on his or her conscious. It could have been a group of people, but no one knows. Whoever did it, when they get caught it will be on their criminal record.
To have a sociological view on this situation, i guess the questions to be asked would be: Who did this? Why did they do it? Was it done to get attention? Was it just to be rebellious? Was it just plain evilness? We never know what people go through and we do not know what may have been going on in their life for them want to do such a thing. What we do know is they, he, or she has committed a crime.
