“The Yearning for Learning”

After a 14 year old girl by the name of Malala Yousafzai publicly expressed her compassion for learning and her hopes of learning, reading, and writing, she was shot by members of the Pakistan Swat Valley. The Taliban spokesman stated that if Malala recovers from the gun wounds, she will only be attacked again by the militants. The fact that the Taliban spokesman thinks that this deed, heroic for many females in the area was unacceptable and states that Malala’s fate “will be a lesson” to anyone that tries to rebel shows how the totalitarian government officials take such precautions just in order to control their citizens.
The United Nations set aside a day in October in which to honor ladies and their health, education, equality, and success. Ironically, 48 hours before this global celebration launched a girl is shot on a school bus by masked men. Sub-Saharan Africa and Pakistan combined have the lowest literacy rate among women. Many women are fighting for the basic rights of young girls because they are aware that babies born to mothers able to read are 50 percent more likely to survive past the age of five. A few fathers have also begun to support the idea of girls attending school because they can receive funds and income, pride, and grandchildren. This incident is relatable to every person on this earth because at some point in life we all have a specific desire to fulfill our purpose in life. The government’s intense regulation on its citizens indicates a global issue because citizens are unable to freely express their opinions and beliefs they feel the need to rebel in order to have their voice heard. Feeling desperate to have a say so in the government’s policies, they take matters into their own hands and radically fight for a cause they truly believe in. the fact that government officials can commit a crime against its inhabitants and claim that everyone that witnessed the crime will “learn their lesson” shows how the government shows no remorse. Actions such as this result in higher crime rate because as the media over exposes the crimes, our view of the world is distorted because the negative stories are always emphasized and depicted.
