Blog 12: Technology aftermath due to Sandy
It was unfortunate that hurricane Sandy destroyed many of our towns and cities here in United States a couple of weeks ago. The east coast was not prepared for this storm and it made us release that anything can happen at any given time. Mother nature is honestly, unpredictable and we should be ready for anything in which she throws at us. We are now seeing the aftermath of Sandy and how people are actually trying to help the cuase. Technological companies actually reached out hours after the storm came in order to tell their costumiers that things were going to be okay with there services. Because without our data, phone calls and emails, we cant communicate with our friends and families. Many phone companies were reaching out and telling there plan on what they were going to due after the disaster. For example, AT&T reached out and they explained how they got there service back up and running after the storm after the storm destroyed part of a building that is extremely crucial to our economy because we aren't just talking about an ordinary business building, we are talking about one of the buildings that is united with the New York Stock exchange. Workers tell us that the restoration and the pick up was something in which they have never seen before. It was hard work but the people were determined to finish the work. Specific government codes for the actual building were under investigation and inspectors determined the buildings unsafe and hazardous. Also, by analyzing the damage of the storm, they determined that it wasn't going to get any better anytime soon. The storm knocked out much power throughout the city and people were devistated. The project in order to get the power running was good. They lined up genetoratos that helped generate electricity to the actuall building. This is a social issue becouse many people were without power and this is crucuial becouse we as humans rely on it. The government should have a better system in order people to feel more safe and secure. We rely on it and if we dont have it, it could effect many of us.
